What am I "wasting" on Him?

("A woman came in with a bottle of expensive perfume and poured in to Jesus’ head." Matthew 26:7)

"Wasteful"

Waste the perfume in wanton delight, reckless love,
And heedless devotion.
Careless obeisance outweighs every
careful obedience.

No one told the flower to open to the sun,
The dragonfly to dance on the wind,
The robin to orchestrate such joy,
Or the river to race so gracefully in white
And wonderful water extravagance

Priests in their perfection
and disciples circled in learning around Him
come no closer than poor prostitutes
who pour wordly perfume and
earthly nectar
on the Head already wounded

Though you have no fame on platforms with
holy-ghost-bands and Florida tans
your worship-style speaks longer and louder
and deeper
than priest’s perfection
disciple’s discipline
and every formal, informal, hymnal,
or contemporary hosanna heard in narthex or
loud streets

Lead me in worship, grateful woman,
Lead me to His head anointed for death
for me
Lead me in worship, wasteful woman,
Lead me to His heart now bleeding in death
for me

Lead me in forgiven re-nativity
and nature’s expectation
to a new carelessness in His presence
and undisciplined wasteful living
toward Him.

wondering if we would let her lead worship in our churches,
