"Mr. Emery Armstrong of Camp 15 made our sanctum a pleasant call on Friday morning last.
Mr. Armstrong is a genial gentleman and has splendid influence over his crew. The boys all like
Emery and the ladies --- well, they can't help it."
This information was taken from the front page of the Peshtigo newspaper. Emery was in town because of the death of one of the men in the logging camp. The story was titled "Killed by a Log", and was Emery's account of the accident. He had driven all night with the dead logger except for one change of horses and arrived in Peshtigo in the early morning.

FROM 'HISTORY OF NORTHERN WISCONSIN' 1881
(James Mellen) has charge of the mechanical department of the Peshtigo Company Works. His parents were located in Boston, Mass. where he was raised, educated and served his apprenticeship as machinist with J & S Adams of South Boston Iron Works.
In 1856 he moved to Green Bay with his family, and was employed by Otto Zank, who was engaged manufacturing machinery, was with him for two years.
In June 1858 came to Peshtigo and took the position he still occupies. He and his family are
members of the St. John church.

the shop and wanted a machinist for the Peshtigo Co., and took me on his locomotive to Ft.

engaged for the position with him."

In 1816 Jonathan Parks and Ferd. Armstrong came from their home in New Brunswick by way of the Penobscot river until they reached the headwaters of the Aroostook, and followed it to the mouth of the Presque Isle stream and there buil their camp fire.
In 1820 Ferd Armstrong returned with a bride and built a cabin on Bradley's Island above the
mouth of the Presque Isle stream.
