My Limited-Edition, Signed Artist Dolls

My signed artist dolls (outside of the antique reproduction ones) are each very special dolls.

April (by Christine Orange) is one of those dolls every doll collector needs! She is so absolutely real she takes your breath away. I purchased April from ArtistDolls on eBay.

Chelsea (by Janis Berard) almost defies description! Janis makes dolls to be showcased and this one is no exception. The rich garnet color of her gown . . . the black accent laces, braid, and trims . . . the long train . . . the full slip . . . All you can do is say, "WOW!" Chelsea was bought from britusa* on eBay.

Lauren (also by Janis Berard) is another show piece. There is so much to these dolls you don't just tuck them in with the other dolls and hide them away! Lauren is dressed in an antique ivory colored dress. Again, every detail is spectacular. Another eBay find, Lauren was also bought from cyberscape.

Tabitha (also by Janis Berard) is an absolute treasure -- literally! I virtually had to conduct a Treasure Hunt to find her!! Tabitha is an African-American full-body porcelain doll dressed in the magnificent Victorian costuming Janis does so well. An absolute beauty, she was well worth the Treasure Hunt -- I ended up with a hand-signed doll!

Liz by Donna RuBert is part of the USPS postage stamp doll collection. Depicting a young Irish immigrant arriving at Ellis Island, Liz totes a little trunk containing all her worldly belongings. Her clothing is carefully "tattered" to fit the role of a poor immigrant. But her turquoise eyes and auburn hair serve as a bright focus to the bright future waiting for her just around the corner! Liz is an exceptional doll with one of the most captivating faces I've seen!

Trudy (Dolls by Pauline) was purchased from QVC. This doll is exquisitely dressed and has her own baby doll. But she also is special because she represents the bond between sisters as Pauline has re-told her own story about her sister who was lost and then found, the doll Pauline promised her, and the loving bond that only sisters can have. I like Trudy for all of those reasons!

Clementine (by Patricia Loveless!) was my first big splurge into major doll collecting. I purchased her from Home Shopping Network. I loved her face and outfit. Her physical characteristics in many ways remind me of my oldest daughter as a little girl -- the same delicate face -- and I loved dressing her in frills!

Kelly by Vincent de Filippo is a bundle of joy! She also was purchased from Home Shopping Network. She is my youngest daughter -- even if the artist had never seen her in person! The coloring, the open mouth, everything reminds me of Carrie. She is also dressed in frills, but that doesn't stop me from holding her in my lap from time to time -- just like I did with the real thing all those many years ago!

Ms. Ashley... The Teacher, a Yesterday's Child from The Boyds Collection Ltd. was a Christmas present from my oldest son. The old fashioned innocence is wonderful -- and I love her accessories -- the bear, schoolbooks, and pencils all ready for teaching!

I hope you have found the dolls as fascinating as I do. Each one represents beauty and history in such a fascinating way. I love having them in my collection, but I also love just having them in my home -- collecting aside. Who wants to grow up anyway?!
