Mrs. Smith loves kids of all ages and loves to learn so she decided to become a teacher! She received an undergraduate degree in Libral Studies from San Diego State University and her teaching credential from Cal State University Northridge. She is currently completing her Master's Degree in Reading at Cal State Northridge. She has been teaching at Monte Vista since 1995 and really enjoys the wonderful staff and great community of our school.
One funny memory Mrs. Smith has of teaching is when the silkworms that are part of her curriculum, came out of their coccoon the 1st day of summer, right after school ended! She really enjoys visits from her past students. "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak is her favorite children's book and she also recommends books by Jan Brett.
Mrs. Smith enjoys going to Chicago, IL to visit her relatives. Her favorite movie is Star Wars, and her favorite animal is the elephant. She likes spicy Mexican food and rock-n-roll music. When she has free time, she likes to read, paint, see movies with her husband and go out with her friends. She's been to the Carribbean and saw the pyramids of Chiche Itza and would love to see the historic art and buildings of Rome some day.
Mrs. Smith's Homework tip : Try to have a regular schedule, take breaks as needed and don't procrastinate.
