Healing is a creative process
Transformative work can feel like a dance, a song, a play, or a deep exploration filled with energy and meaning. It is often unpredictable
and synchronistic, experimental and playful, energizing and empowering. Because the process emerges from the inner life of the individual, is feels very alive and it results in more aliveness.
Consciousness transformation versus the suppression of symptoms
The traditional model of healing is concerned about getting rid of illness. Illnesses and psychological disturbances are considered to be
imbalances that need to be corrected or removed. The end of treatment is signaled, in this view, by the cessation of symptoms, that is, by the “cure.” There are times and places where this is appropriate. However,
the habit of symptom suppression inherent in these techniques is, from a higher perspective, the ongoing suppression of awareness. Symptoms and illness are actually intelligent processes happening within the
individual. They are stories trying to unfold, trying to carry us back to ourselves, back to our essential being. Therefore, symptoms are are really just awareness, growth, and love “knocking at the door.” They are
messages from the deep psyche bringing opportunities to change the nature of one’s perceptions, beliefs and life direction. Our innermost energy needs to be freed, not medicated out of awareness.
