About the University

Brawijaya University is located at Malang. A small city in East-Java, one province from 27 provinces of Indonesia. Malang is located at about 500 meter above sea level. The temperature varies from about 20 to 30 Celcius. In east, north and west side of Malang, you can find a tremendeaous volcanos as well as their tropical forest. In the west direction is mount Kawi.  In the north is mount Arjuna. And last but not least is, in the east mount Semeru and Bromo. Arjuna and Semeru is an active volcano, that make Malang and its surounding as a good place for agriculture. Mount Bromo, as the meaning of its name is the god of fire, is the famous place for natural tourism. You can see an active caldera of a volcano. This volcano eruptes its dust minute to minute. You will enjoy how is a dust rain 

Brawijaya University is in the west part of Malang. The main location covers 56 Ha area. Outside the town there are also located field laboratory for Agriculture (125 Ha) and Fisheries.

The embrio of the University are some privat Universities in Malang. There were grounded about 12 years after the Indonesien's independence in 1945. Due to the needs of better education quality as well as the continuity of the high education in Malang, this university became a state University. This State University, the so named Brawijaya University, is establised in 1963 to fullfill the fast growing requirements of high education in Indonesia. Eventhough, it was only a little contribution in the number of student compare to the whole population of Indonesia. Time to time, Brawijaya University become one of the main Universities in Indonesia.
