Zen and things
- Ten Bulls:
a classic exposition of Zen in the form of a commentary of ten pictures of
the ox-herd in search of the ox.
- There is another version
here
at the Sanbyo Kyodan website.
- Zen at Sunsite
- My first brush with Zen was with the
Sanbyo Kyodan (Harada Yasutani school), sitting under the direction of
Sister Elaine MacInnes Roshi. After a lapse of some 14 years, I am now sitting with Father Patrick Eastman Sensei.
- I have here the text of an article by Robert H. Sharf (Associate Professor, Asian Languages and Culture, University of Michigan), which discusses this school in the context of other new developments in Japanese religion.
- Here is a
short history
of the school.
- Not trying to become anything
- The
Buddhist Studies
section of the Virtual Library Catalogue seems to come and go unpredictably:
it was there last time I looked!
- If you ask a practitioner of Zen a question about Zen, they may well
answer Mu!
For an explanation, read the famous
koan about Joshu's Dog.
It may not help.
