Who am I and where am I coming
from?

My public craft name is Settantta.
I have been seeking most of my
life. As a teenager, I was a devout Anglican in Sydney. Later,
During my Hippie phase, I developed an interest in Tibetan
Buddhism (but then, so did most of my contemporaries).
Later, I joined the Assemblies of
God (AOG), and studied the Bible intensely. I later Joined the
Seventh-day Adventist Church, and spent 2 years studying
theology, training to become a minister.
In 1989 I commenced studies at
the University of Newcastle, concentrating on Classical Greek,
Linguistics and Studies in Religion. Personal problems led to my
leaving after 2 years, but I have since done an additional
semester externally at the University of New England, gaining a
Distinction in Studies in Religion.
I returned to the Pagan path
about 5 years ago. I am a Solitary by choice, self initiated.
After my self-initiation, the Goddess appeared to me in a dream,
and indicated that the path I had chosen was acceptable to her.
My primary area of interest is ancient Irish beliefs, customs and
practices.
Because of my background, I do
not feel intimidated by the possibility of being verbally
attacked by Christians, and so I have no compunction in sticking
my neck out as a target. I believe that I can meet anyone on
their own ground, and defend myself and my friends.
Setanta was the birth name of Cu
Chullain. One tradition has it that his father was Lugh, the
Irish sun god.
I personally identify very strongly with Cu Chullain, but
unfortunately that name is numerologically incompatible to me. So
also is the normal spelling of Setanta. Add two "t's",
and everything clicks into place.
I was at one time married to a Finnish woman, and
as a result I have developed an interest in the ancient, pre-Christian
beliefs of that country. Any Finns with information or
interpretations of Kalevala, I'd really love to hear
from you.
