Had lost its political power mainly called for religious functions.
comitia centuriata
made up of all the men of military age grouped in centuries, 193 of them. The centuries were based on wealth and age, with the richest groups have the greater voting power. Since this assemlbe reprisented the Roman state under arms it voted for the those offices that involved military command (imperium) the consuls, praetors and censors.

My Balbus' time this was the main assembly.
There were thirty-five tribes four urban and thirty-one rural. The voting took place in the forum the were fences put up to section off the diffrent tribes when the time came to vote a gate would be opened in the fence and voters came out crossed a small bridge and placed their vote in a receptical on the other side. It was the vote of the tribe that mattered, so 18 tribes needed to vote one way
