Secret Service

Matt. 6:1 lays the guideline: "Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven." Our goal is to be anonymous, to have the deed done in secret before God alone. At first, this may seem very hard to do. You may find yourself deep down wanting to tell others just what you've been up to. Don't. Go to the Father and let Him know how you are feeling. Ask Him to purify your heart and motives. Remember, this type of service is between you and the Lord.

Secret charitable giving tips:

When you know of a family or individual in need, send them money by mail anonymously.

If the person in need is a close friend or family member, arrange to pay a bill for them. Go to the utilities company (gas or electric) and give the address of the person. Tell the clerk you would like to pay their bill anonymously.

Buy gift certificates for some local grocery stores as you have funds available. Try to keep a supply on hand. When a need arises, the certificate can either be mailed, left in a mailbox, stashed in a coat pocket...be creative!
