Mesquite ISD

Compiled by Keri Alexander

In our world today, technology is now a basic skill to prepare our students for the world of work or higher education. Teachers must use technology effectively in the classroom for them to be successful. In the Mesquite Independent School District there are standards and assessments that aid in reaching this goal. Mesquite teachers are always exploring new and exciting ways to help students learn, but success begins with developing a technology plan for our teachers.

Technology Standards

All Mesquite teachers should be able to meet the requirements of the 8th grade Technology TEKS.

District Assessment

There are 5 areas for developing technology skills in Mesquite:
  1. A full-time employee can buy both computer hardware and software at district cost.
  2. Technology Facilitators are provided for each campus to integrate computer literacy.
  3. Campus Based Staff Developments selected to meet the goals set in the "Campus Improvement Plan".
  4. Pay for Knowledge and Professional Growth Hours; training classes provided by the district.
  5. Cohort Masters Program in Technology; designed by MISD and College Professors.
