Hi
A little about me, Jack
Pillemer.
I'm married to Graciela and have 4
children: Luciana, Ariel, Nicole and Daniela.
We all live in Talpiot, Jerusalem,
Israel.
My life seems to revolve around my
family, friends, English teaching and trying to survive in Israel.
:-)
Presently I'm teaching English at
the Mae Boyar High School, writing for the Jerusalem Post youth
magazines, giving workshops on various subjects and
tutoring.
In the past I have taught English
to cadets, advisors, and diplomats in the Israeli foreign ministry. I
have been the program manager for a content-based English language
summer camp ("Noar Shoher Mada") at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
I have written a work- book for a course text book called Tapestry. I
have taught young children to read and write. I have, in short,
busied myself with EFL (English as a Foreign Language) for the last
20 years or so.
As time passes I need to try new
approaches to teaching. For the last few years I have been taking an
interest in CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) and most
recently in CBI (Content Based Instruction). Besides that, I have an
interest in developing special content based projects for individual
students who seem to thrive when they are given something challenging
to do.
I have no favourite colour, lucky
number or best liked-filmstar. I can say, however, that certain jazz
tunes - a meloncholy wail of a sax, or a beautiful aria or a
combination of color and form on canvass or a leap of a dancer or
deer can send shivers down my spine and even bring a tear to my
eye.
That's about it.
