--HOME PLUS WORK PLUS LIFE--11/10/06

House work
Home work
Not well schooled
Ideas taken freely
Parent wisdom gathered
Passed from Father to Son.

Owning a home
Paying the bills
Gas for the mower
Electric trimmer
Forgot an extension cord.

Years of knowledge
Not distance memories
Of home lived in
Chores to do
Rain is coming
Changing to snow.
Ah, crud!

--VOICES--11/10/06

Hearing voices
Not that crazy
Paranormal
In the silence
Haunted Homes
Imprinted past
In the walls.

Demonized
Bad word
Ostracized
For gifts deemed bad
Impatience for truth
Plugged hearing
Bible thumping blues.

Ghosts of the past
Others not mine
Replay in time
Energized soul
Mine this time

Knowing other truths
Keeps me warm
On darkest stairs
Got the mind set
Hearing voices.

--GLASS HEART--11/10/06

Glass of heart
Not opaque
Thought broken
Only chipped.

Fire burns
Brightly shines
Crystal clear
Pumping quickly.

Life sustains
Day to day
Transparent vision
Glass of heart.

--CURSED CURIOUS--11/10/06

Questions of faith
Truth and fiction
Offered by clergy
Forced by zealots
Words are changed
To suit the fervor.

Golden Rule
Not so golden
When life choices
Are an ill fitted suit
And pulpited people
Look past soul.

Answers sought
To unaccepted paths
Those untraveled roads
Finding the truth
Through kindred spirits
Gifts to share are hidden.

--LOOKING--11/10/06

I look for peace
Through my words
Typed and viewed
LCD vision
Reflecting life
By life and friends.

I look for friends
Lost to time
Separated by space
Forgotten to wisdom
The waves of the pebble
Running from the center.

I look for life
Towards horizons west
Within myself
Seek peaceful souls
Compassions’ hand
Origins in love.

I look for you
To gather courage
Giving support
In trials of fire
Holding back
Sitting very still.

I look for me
In a mirror darkly
Echoes of Orion
Lost to the stars
Worlds unseen
Looking for peace.

--Stop For A Moment--11/8/03

For ever moment
Tick
For every action
Tock
Time in measurement
Tick
Spanning heartbeats
Tock
Leaving exhales
Tick
Starting motion
Tock
Giving pause
Stop.

--Ode to a Caveman's Dream--11/8/03

To be a barbarian
Carnivore
Omnivore
Herbivore
Tongs in hand
Charcoal held
Matches to strike
Fire to be born
Steaks
Chicken
Brats
Grilling season
Never ending
But this poem
does.

--Amy's 40th Birthday--11/8/03

I remembered number 40
A remarkable time
For an old friend
Not seen in decades
But doing well
I can imagine.

40 ticks
From Father Time
A drop of moment
In the pool of time
Memories held
Exhaled in continuance.

Times are her own
With family life
An old friendship
Long gone
From decades silence
Recall a warm glow.

I recall
Every year
Capistrono vision
Rescued from mediocrity
I survived
Thanks to her.

Can't help remembering
Birthday each year
From souls that touched
Lives turned around
Thank you Amy
Happy Birthday.

--Computer memories--11/8/03

I miss my friends
Computer compatriots
Late nights spent talking
Laughing and loving
Philosophy 101.

Time moved forward
Along with life itself
Moods and views
Husbands and wives
Practicality controlled.

Palace aides and confidants
I seek U and me
Seeing others
Worldwide views
Enclosed in monitor screens.

--40th Birthday--11/8/03

I'm nearing forty
Gawd, I'm scared
Reflecting back
On my past.
Too many chapters
With blurry reference
Index cards don't help.

I see the grey
And telltale signs
Of disappearing hope
To take the reins
Pull myself upward
Stand up straight
Head held high.

The pot of gold
Is still there
Taunting me to try
My back is sore
Willpower is zapped
I'm still reaching
Nearly there.

I'm turning 40
Dreams change
And come true
A give and take
Love is here
Support to try
The finish line is here.

--Poet or Songwriter?--3/9/03

Am not a song writer?
Words to paper or screen.
Touch the heart
Of words written
Melody unseen.

Am I not a poet?
Rhyming the words
Developing a pattern
Revealing the heart
In dreams unseen.

Which am I then?
Deaf and dumb
To cords unheard
Or structured phrases.
Who am I?

Just a word merchant
Playing with letters
Working with thoughts
A minstral in blue jeans
A voice in the desert.

--Spirit Guided--3/9/03

My visions still come
Added deja-vu
To the view
My knowledge is tripled
By things to come.

Spirit guides and angels
Follow my path
Stay with me
Guard me
Keeping me from harm.

I cannot escape this timeline
My fate written in dimensions
I feel the tugs
Of my ghostly allies
To follow the proper path.

My fingers reply
To thoughts unspoken
Tempo and pacing
At the speed of thought
Seeing the word created.

My sights not always clear
I look inside myself
To find the wisdom
Lost at times
To gain what I don't know.

--Death of Columbia--2/2/03

Tell them a story
Of Seven souls
Brought together
From around the globe
Modern Columbus'
Latter-day heroes
Focused on a mission
For the whole human race.

Draped in the knowledge
Of legends past
With inventions of marvel
And wisdom untold
Objective viewpoints
Mixed with child-like eyes
In a gem of the ocean
On rockets bright plumes.

Gather the intelligence
Of a planets quest
Tug at the dreams
Inside of us all
Whisper in the ear
Of the children unborn
When working together
Anything is imaginable.

Tell them of history
The accomplishments done
Remind them the good
That each one proposed
In tragedy and loss
Hopes still remain
On a cold February morning
Seven never came home.

--Death of Columbia: Part 2--2/2/03

In life and death
We learn
That all is not as it seems.
For when we suffer
A loss of another
We grieve but always
Push on.

Carrying on
In daily chores
When earthly jobs
Mundane in nature
Provide distractions
When senseless death
Strikes our hearts.

Stir to emotion
Our hearts beat louder
In memory of loss.
We look to the future
Not to the past
Our gaze on the heavens
The sun still rises.

--Time Passages--11/23/02

There at once it came to be
Light
Sound
Energy
Flows in time and space
Divided....
A Passage melted
Seeming space
Crevises...
Hollows to pace
Then at once
There it was...
The glow
The passing
The even flow

Flare of light
Spark of life
Ushered into heaven
Breath of numbing silence
No darkness
No riptide
Careful footfall
Mysteries at doorstep
Tap Tap Tap
Numerous faces
Legends growing
Friends surrounding
Time master
Timelord.
Life ticks on

--Coventry Legacy--7/14/02

The following poem is a refelctive look back at my trip to the UK in 1999.
More of these poems based on my picture section from UK trip will be
coming.-Joel-

Nine lonely kings
Stuck in time
Glassy stares
Part of what was
Bombed away.

Devestated memories
Brought by metal wings
Stark reminder
What war brings
To peaceful soil.

Birds now land
Where people prayed
Weathering times passing
In bruised beauty
In a silent English mist.

Crowds still arrive
Though not for mass
Ghostly echoes
Through the masonry
Of nine lonley kings.

--Flight to Houston--7/14/02

Overcast at G1
Patients in the rain
Dry inside
Airport terminal
Traveling to Houston.

Conference time
Cable people
Brain stimulation
Learning curve raised
Future recognition.

Time to board
One by one
Going southward
Steel bird waiting
Leaving G1.

--Tarmack Wait--7/14/02

Rainy day starting
Minneapolis morning
Gallons of water
Runway's wet
Flight is delayed.

Slow taxi outward
Waiting in line
Buckled up
Stuck in neutral
Rain all about.

Bodies in stand-by
Permission granted
Moving to launch
Runway progression
Time to leave.

--Airbourne--7/14/02

An eyefull
Cotton candy vision
Billowing pods of fluff
Stretching vertically
Horizontally
Miles and miles beyond.

Green pastures
Mozaic patterns
Landscape views
Roadways from above
Viens to the muscle
Life connected.

Cityscapes
Cloud level
Neighborhoods
Football fields
Airports to small
For an iron eagle.

Sprawling outward
Following roads
Meandering rivers
Life in motion
Never seeing
Upbove their heads.

Lakes of glass
From high above
Compass roadways
To the shore
Views flow forever
Worldscapes.

--Food Study--7/14/02

Grill time
Dinner faire
Texas variety
Southern style
Peppered spice
BBQ flavors.

Melting pot
History lessons
World wide tastes
Discovery points
Secrets revealed
Recipies of life.

--Conference Conversations--7/14/02

Points of view
What will work
What to avoid
Trading secrets
Not spy stuff
Better odds for users.

Questions and comments
Reactions in verse
Driven to learn
Veterans of cable
But in the end
Making mistakes
Keeping the faith.

--Houston R&R--7/14/02

Minnesota dreams
In warm Houston days
Not so icy thoughts
Trying to stay cool
Perfect size cabanna.

Pigeons flutter
Two by three
Pool's not so quiet
Sandles clopping by
Familiar face arrives.

Katies wanders by
Sunshine smile
Dressed in bikini and tan
Conversation this and that
Nice that she stopped by.

Katie's been busy
In quiet ways
Soaking up knowledge
With book in hand
In a bright Houston sun.

Sun block and towels
And a book to read
Total consentration
And complete relaxation
In Suntan 101.

Days in the sunshine
Wary of the pigeons
Finding time
Poolside afternoon
Tan but now peeling.

--Houston Thoughts--7/14/02

I hear a Texas heartbeat
Drifting through the wind
Stark and real
Moving and changing
Focused on my soul.

Northern winds blew me south
Encased in a iron shell
Speeding with white cotton
Eyes focus upon terra
My mind floats in space.

A Houston fragrance
Fills my senses
Tugging at my heart
Pulsing in a mall expansive
City life in me.

--Final Saturday--7/14/02

Saturday too quiet
Rain the causal effect
Galleria full of people
More are on the way
Thankful for air conditioning.

People watching
Back and forth
Families together
Window shopping hand-in-hand
Wishful dreams discussed.

Dinner calls me
Something new
Well done steak
Enjoying the solitude
Grilled to perfection.

Walking backwards
Views high and low
Ice skating options
A dip in the pool
Many things to do.

--In the Concourse--7/14/02

Sunday silly play
Waiting for flights
Children being themselves
Some just stare in disbelief,
Others smile and remember.

Antsy movement
Youthful energy
Stuck inside
Boarding call coming
Mothers driven nutz.

Shouts of laughter
Gleeful fun
Sunday just a day
Exercise results
Chasing little ones.

--Storm Front and Back--7/14/02

Storm weathered Houston
Water soaked
Airport slowly revives
Flight Delays
Outstretched lines
Tempers getting shorter.

Humor tries
It's very best
Alleviating the tension
Grumbling ends
Laughter starts
Lasting just a brief moment.

Missing flights
By mere moments
Refused by stupid rules
Never seeing
Any true logic
I miss my Rocky chance.

Finally through
The endless mile
Being rebooked for home
Releasing frustration
With pen and ink
Looking forward to fly.

--Southern Tarmack--7/14/02

Going home
Minnesota journey
Air cooled cabin
Pretty view.

Plane reasons
Taxiing outbound
Dark clouds approach
Sun is missing.

Rain begins
In line again
This time leaving
Runway rolls away.

Glacial patterns
Landscape's potholes
Ancient footsteps
From a colder age.

Green pastures
Litter the land
Water holes
Pocket worlds.

Spacial staring
Horizon's gift
Timeless travel
Memories for home.

--Josh's Dilemma--6/31/02

In the middle
2 to the front
2 behind him
Bad ratios
General Custers problem.

No support
Mom's too busy
To see the scales
Tipped one way.

With knowledge gained
From uncles wisdom
Taking charge thoughfully
Using brains, not brawn.

--Graduation Day Wish--6/31/02

The nest seems too small
For the hatchling,
Finally grown
Looking to expand its range.
The wings need to stretch outward
To grasp the wind
Soaring higher
Than ever thought possible.
Finding new freedoms
Exciting futures
A graduate given flight
Horizons to explore.

--The Accident--6/8/02

I cannot sleep
Body hurts
Head still throbs
From sudden stopping
Crushing blow.

Physics is proven
Unfortunately
Immovable object
Irresistible force
Object should have.

I can't sleep
Stressed out mind
What was routine
Nearly ended
Quite tragically.

Safety issues
Kept me safe
Booming bags
Straps buckled
Helped me live.

4a.m.
Sleep is staggered
Saturday morning
Should be in bed
Instead of poetics.

--Worried--6/8/02

She's worried about me
Gave her a fright
Walking from a boomer
Sore but much alive
Her fear is to lose me
Leave her alone
I will not leave
By hook or by crook.

She needs my love
And I need hers
Brought together
By God's graces
Worried though
By future tenses
In the scheme of things
Who can tell?

--1 Moment Please--3/22/02

Give me time
To ponder Fate
My time at hand
Encompassed life
Seek to knowledge
Given form
Seperate reason
Delivered goal.

Pooling wisdom
Driven words
Typed by fingers
Pulse eclectic
Driven nature
Whispered voice
Singing sweetly
Sunlite Muse.

--Thanksgiving Prayer--11/9/01

We give thanks today
In memory stands
For those departed
In far off lands.
For happy home
Health and friends
In family spirit
Which never roam.
--Reflections Past--11/9/01

My ghosts are gone
From winters past
My Marley rests
In deepest recess.
Taken leave
Of memories scars
I look to the graveyard
And walk away clean.

For life goes on
In current causes
For the circle turns
To fortunes blessing.
My Muse has smile
In work half done
I keep the pace
Of heart-full wishes.

Spirit now full
Of joy not pain
In companionship
I find my joy.
No lonesome days
Those now are gone
By souls in transit
My station comes clear.

Now my December day
Comes clean with snow
And sunlight warms
The open room.
I follow my path
Now bright with love
Writing these words
Looking forward and not back.

--Foggy Intuition--11/9/01

The die is cast
In open flame
By fossil relics
Of his past
He sees the doorway
Moves to close
Fearful of repetition.

In murky reflection
Unclean water
Distance fosters clarity
In rivers running deep
Mirrors veiled important clues
Through ghostly shadows
Silent hallways.

In sleep filled moments
To morning rising
Slipped in sheets
Of certainty
Waking reflection
Now disturbs me
Avenge to haunted memories.

--Heart at Home--11/9/01

Is your home a zoo
Or is your zoo a home?
For when is one
And not the otter
That is a grizzly thought.

Is you home you palace
Or is or palace your home?
For at the end of day
And it is time for knight
You take your place on your throne.

Is that your special love
Or is that love so special
For in your heart
Both remain
Truest feelings of all.

--Ocean Lost--11/9/01

I set my tone
To find my voice
In pale reflection
To visions I see
In pleasant sight
Finding release
I take winds of change.

My ship has staggered
On wind whipped seas
In sudden storms
Through blues skies
Distant shorelines
Strain to view
Safety on the sand.

I clutch my anchor
To hold me still
As rocky coves loom
My provisions are lost
More so than I
In life?s deep struggle
I've washed ashore.

--Dark Water View--11/9/01

I gazed upon a sea black field
Where brightest fish swim
They looked at me
As my stare returned
So very far away.

I reached to dip my hand in
To splash into the water
I could not reach
With outstretched hands
Never even close.

My dream is to swim there
Among the many fish
Though earth bound here
My thoughts so fresh
My poetry my rocket.

--Shatterday 911--11/9/01

My vision flash glass
In an instant shattered
Peaceful dreams
In daggered space
Twins fall to their knees.

Monoliths of icon power
Scratching the clouds bellies
Decades work
Sweat and tears
A nursery rhyme foretold.

The glass still there
Glows with presentation
Of fear and panic
Lost and found
Memories delineate with flame.

Breathe of life in hallowed streets
Dreams thousands shared as one
Vanquished winds
Paper trails
Drifts into cries of silence.

Love one another
So we are told
In stories old
By man and God
Words we must remember.

Life continues
In worldly progression
Words to paper
Paper to thoughts
Thoughts of shattered glass.

--A Poet's Musing--11/9/01

The keyboard
My pen and paper
Has been a stranger onto me.
I've stared at it often
For muses return
Time to call Zeus' daughters.

I've missed the flow
Of random thoughts
Cascading
From mind to hand
Gathering words
In mystic chanting
I feel a presence here.

Much time has passed
Between the poems
Love and marriage priority
My life entrenched
With hearth and home
And a friend now my wife.

My voices strayed
When sanity came
To partake in normalcy
But the writer's soul
Is never silent
Merely sleeping inside.

Fingers and brain
Working again
And seemingly in unison
With typos removed
By electric muse
I seemingly have returned.

--Outside My Window--7/21/01

Oh beautiful
The golden finches
Floating upon the wind
Pairs in flight
Mates in love
The world is simply theirs.
Wee chickadees
And Morning Doves
Feeding on the seeds
That drops upon ground below
From seedling plants above.
The sky is theirs
To soar and sail
Horizons points between
Seeing sights we'll never know
A birds' eye sees so far.

---The Coming Marriage(Pre June 29,2001)---

I'm getting married
Feeling nervous
So much in love
Yet so unsure
Millions of thoughts
Richochet around
Making me double check
Plans and hopes
Making sure
Everything goes right.

Procedures ready
Licence in hand
Rings for fingers
Priest scheduled ahead
Church for the everyone
Reception Hall's right size
Music and celebration
Videotaping the event
Work mates and neighbors
Gather for the day.

Friends become relatives
The circle ever growing
New lives to become apart of
New children to spoil.
Stories to poems
Poems to chronicle
A world opens up
Bringing a freshness
Reliving each moment shining
Slipping through the crowds
Soaking in the love.

---The Emotions Center--6/15/01

I'm in love
She's in love
What a pair we two.
Like kids in a candy store
Sharing secrets with each other
Snuggling and whispering
Dreaming and scheming
Caring and sharing.
Two hearts and souls
Belonging together
Keeping each other going
Through good times and bad
Seeking our solutions
In wisdom and consultation
Shoulders united
To carry the load.
Happiness draws our friends here
Seeing our joyous outpouring
Fills the room in brightest glow
Enough to light the darkest tunnel
And guide us to our arms
For sweetest honey is my Peggy
Enough for this grizzly bear
More than I will ever need.

I'd like to hear from you.................
