A tulip alone in a garden
is a wretched sight, sorry and sad
two tulips in a vase
is company in the morning.

Three tulips laid by the
grave of a friend is pure sorrow,
but one tulip by itself
in a garden is wretched.

Author's Note

Thomas Merton in his book, Thoughts in Solitude says, "The solution of the problem of life is life itself. Life is attained by reasoning and analysis, but firstof all by living."
