"Sound can be heard in many ways. Obviously with the ears, but also sound can be heard or 'felt' by the body. Most people are aware of this as they may experience their heart speeding up with the booming sound of a musical 'treat'. Those who cannot hear usually develop their other senses to compensate for the lack of hearing. These are not new ideas, that hearing and feeling are close in the sharing of energies.
We are also aware that our range of hearing is limited. Some animals have a much keener and much higher range of hearing than humans. This, too, is also not new. What we may not be too aware of is that our bodies' energies send out sounds. Not physical sounds, but vibrational 'sounds'. These are so fine in energy that they are felt but not heard and those who feel them are rare. When we are out of balance, our sound is 'louder' and blunter. When we are balanced and in harmony, our 'sound' is smoother and much finer in energetic tuning. Why should we care if most cannot hear this sounding? The answer is that the awareness of sound's effects can encourage us to be more careful in the type of song we play each day. Each individual is truly like a song, each one being a composer with daily changes in harmonies and chords.
Sound is all around us. We are so used to it that we tune it out, we walk through it or in it and are not aware that it even has an effect on us. Yet if we get away from a noisy environment, and go to a place of little sound, we can tell the difference in the stress level of our bodies and the harmony we feel inside. Perhaps it is not possible to go to such an environment. We then must create our own space and leave room for a quiet time. Many people have trouble meditating because they are not used to an absence of sound, and though meditation is very beneficial, even the creation of an empty space - a soundless space is helpful.
We send sound with our entire being. We 'sense' others and we may turn to find someone staring, but we need to realize that this sound is constant. If each individual makes some effort to create harmony, the vibratory environment becomes a better place. We become agitated many times a day and yet can find no place for a few minutes of quiet. Perhaps as there are no parking zones, there should be no talking zones. Too often sound is a comforter, a means of being aware that we are not alone, of having company. The body becomes a receiver and at times must become its own protector in order to keep in balance from the effects of all the noise it encounters.
The greatest gift one can give a stressful soul is the gift of quiet harmony. Of course advice and teaching has its place, but we often forget the support that a quiet moment shared gives to another. We think we must talk all the time, to respond, to contribute. Those who are quieter are often told they are shy, but perhaps they are listening better than others.
Sounds of nature are soothing and can calm and sometimes instruct. The sounds that come from a voice can be of many different hues and strengths, pouring out comfort or discomfort. Listen to your voice. How does it sound to you? Is it rushed, hurried? Is it calm, patient? What tune are you 'singing' when you are talking?"
