Requirements for Best of Athens:
- Site must be in Athens
- No violations of Geocities Content Guidelines
- All links and images work
- Text and images fit on screen and within frames even at 640x480 resolution. See Layout and Compatibility
- Text is easily legible against the background. See also Compatibility
- Site is enjoyable and navigable even with a non-graphical non-Javascript browser. See Compatibility and Images
- Site is well-organized and easily navigated, with a link on each page to either the index page, a site map page, or the main page of the section
- Reasonable load time for all pages - 30 seconds or less on a 28.8K modem for all main pages
- No glaring spelling or grammar mistakes
- No noticeable HTML or Javascript errors. Badly nested tags are fine, but not a stray > floating on the page.
- Each of the main pages must have a TITLE tag with a reasonably good description of that page.
- Autoloading sound files are discouraged, and if used should have a control so they can be turned off
- There must be significant content that fits one or more of the Athens themes in some fashion, and that content must be well-organized. Normally this means each essay, article, poem, or whatever will be on a separate HTML page. The content must be laid out in a manner pleasing to the eye. Content must be enjoyable, educational, or other useful resource. See also Layout and Consistent Look
