We got a little bit lost trying to pick up the trail past the campsite but steering by the direction of the sun, we were soon on our way again. These pictures were taken on the trail above Little Yosemite Valley.
The landscape suddenly turned into dense forest after a scramble up the rocks and a walk through some desert-like sand.
I thought this section was the hardest for me. The elevation gain is exactly the same as the first three miles but the altitude (~7000 ft) and the fact that we'd already been on the trail for 4 hours made it that much harder. At this point, my first aid kit became useful to everyone else but me. (I'd taped up my feet the night before.) A big thank you goes out from the bottom of our hearts to the inventor(s) of moleskin tape.
