Speaking--Checklist

Speaking

Define each of the terms (on notebook paper) in less than 3 sentences. Clarity and conciseness is a must here.

1. POISE—

2. COHESIVENESS—

3. PERSUASIVENESS--

As you give each presentation, think about what your definitions were and how you can live up to them. Know each by heart--use a dictionary AND your own mind; research the terms if you want. All three qualities are vital to becoming a good speaker. You’ve got the voice; you just need to learn how to make the best use of it. After you’ve given a speech, not only should you read over the checklist, but you should also think about how well you lived up to POISE, COHESIVENESS, and PERSUASIVENESS. Be a perfectionist; criticize yourself for now, and know that you must get better as any speaker must.  USE THE SPEAKING CHECKLIST AS YOUR MAIN GUIDELINE!
