These are pictures I took at one of the major horse auctions of the year in my area. Please take a look. I'm sorry the quality is so bad in some of them, but the lighting was terrible and I didn't want to take a chance on spooking any horses with a camera flash.
Like the bay in the front of this picture, many amish buggy horses around here find their way into the kill pens of this auction. Sold like used cars, some just for a simple thing like being partially blind, lame, or some other injury. Instead of paying for a vet to cure them, they get the going price out of them here.
This is the horse from the top left of the first picture. If you look closely, you will notice that he has a rather bad cut on his nose. I couldn't get him to come close enough so I could see, but I believe it went at least to the bone, if not further.
And don't think that I am accusing ALL of the local amish of doing this to their horses, in fact, alot of them probably don't. Any kind of horse, from any kind of owner can end up here.
