Lina: Hey, hey! Some people are here!

Gourry: Welcome, guys!

Me: Ladies’ and Gentlemen, please welcome our dear hosts, Lina and Gourry!

Lina: Pleasure to meet you…but I gotta run now, I have to cook our dinner!

Gourry: You’re cooking dinner for me!

Lina: No, I’ll cook the dinner for the dog. The maid will cook your dinner!

Gourry: Well, that’s a big disappointment…

Me: anyway, let us proceed with the analysis…

They are not such a bad couple. If you like these two, you may not be considering how Gourry’s brain works and how Lina’s power is. Usually, people pair up some people in anime because of the hair color, the strength and they don’t consider the attitudes or the outcomes. Well, sometimes, if they ever considered the attitude, it wasn’t enough and the reason seemed lame enough to be considered as useless and not true. Well, people think differently and you can’t avoid arguments, but I won’t argue with you now. I respect your opinion, but this is what I have to say about these two…
Consider the attitudes: Lina is a happy-go-lucky person or in other words, an "I-don’t-care" type. On the other hand, Gourry is the type who can observe, yet again, blurt out things. You ask why I said that he could observe? For sure, it seems that he could see what’s right from wrong, but the problem is, he’s having a hard time understanding himself. He may not understand the things going on during a fight or battle but he could always understand people’s feelings and he knows when something is not right or something is good. If Lina’s out of control, he’s cool and tries to control her. Plus, he can be cheery when she’s down; meaning that he encourages her to go on and smile for her to serve as inspiration (though we don’t know if Lina has an inspiration or what…)
Both of them have the same appetite and they could understand and interpret each other. So, who cares if Lina’s hair is red and Gourry is blonde? Who cares if Lina’s powerful and Gourry the "I-stick-to-my-sword" style? Who cares if she’s the brains and he’s the noodle? If you see him as not handsome, then there must be something wrong with you…start wearing glasses.
I’ve noticed that their attitude towards fighting is "Go till the finish", in short, they don’t give up so easily. Let me tell you that Lina could be irresponsible at some time, so she needs a protector. That’s when Gourry enters. Right, it’s him again! Let’s take a look at the the saying…
Opposites Attract: We can apply this to them, to the fact that they are opposites. Of course, no one is an exact copy of another (each one has his own genes, DNA pattern, fingerprints…) Lina is hot-tempered and cold towards the feelings called "love" but she knows how to care. Yet, care is not enough for it to be called love; but one thing I know for sure is that she would learn how to express her feelings if she wasn’t the only one who feels is…am I right???-_- As I’ve said awhile ago, they really differ in the way of thinking. Sometimes, Lina couldn’t understand something, on the other hand, Gourry seems to understand it or zero nothing. Though opposites they can still help each other in times of need and failure, get my point?
Their Togetherness: They have been together for so long since the first series. As time passed for them, they must be realizing that they are becoming closer and closer to each other. See this: Gourry referred to her as a "kid" but then he realized that this flame-haired sorceress whom he travels with is not a kid after all (not the kid as in the baby goat, you fool!!@#$) anyway, on the other hand, Lina began to accept Gourry as he is (the stupidity type). She didn’t mind so much now that he is stupid (excuse me for the adjective…no offense, Gourry…) and both of them are getting the hang of each other.
Here’s another catch: recall the episode in NEXT wherein they ran into Shilfiell again. Shilfiell asked Lina if she could travel with them again, Lina answered it’s okay. Then, Shilfiell asked about Gourry and she reminded Lina that Lina told her once that Lina only travels with Gourry so she could get the Hikari no Ken. What Lina did was to ask whether she said that because she couldn’t remember, meaning that her reason has changed already!!!
Ahem…ahem…I’m losing my poise… anyway, that’s enough for today, maybe later?

Lina: at least you’re done with it, now I can eat!

Gourry: *urp*

Me: *sweatdrop*

Lina: GOURRY! YOU FINISHED ALL OF THE FOOD!!!???

Gourry: Sorry, I was calling your attention but you were listening to her!

Me: You were listening to me???

Lina: I just thought that you gave enough proofs…

Me: then you…

Lina: *blush* nani…

Me: nothing…you might smack my face if I said it…

Gourry: don’t worry, you can always eat the dog food.

Lina: and what did you just mean by that !?
