Buffy the Vampire Slayer didn't always enjoy the fame and success it now has. When it first aired to the public, it was a replacement for another WB series, and the critics were sceptical. The story of a highschool girl who hunted vampires sounded a little too silly to be taken seriously. But Whedon and crew proved them wrong.

Over the span of 5 seasons, Buffy the Vampire Slayer has commanded a strong following among both teenagers and adults alike. The lives of real people, with real feelings, portrayed against a backdrop of horror, fantasy and mythology captivated the audience. Its success was so phenomenal, that it spawned a spin-off series - Angel : The Series. Just completeing its second season, A:TS has already reached cult status, comparable even to its parent show.
