entered into the great ARK [Gen 6:19].

The question may be easier to answer if it were changed from "Why do animals
have to die?" Everything in this world dies. And many "innocent" animals even
kill other animals for food. Even herbivores "kill" plants. The main reason
we don't seem to think twice about "killing" plants is that we don't think
they feel pain but that may not always be the case.

The better question to answer would be "Why do animals suffer?" Did you know
that when a lion kills an animal to eat, the lion actually tries to kill its
prey with the least amount of suffering? If the animal were to die of old age
instead of being killed quickly, it probably would suffer a whole lot more.
I have had several pets that were in a lot of pain as they grew old. We put
them out of their suffering quickly rather then watch them slowly die.

So why is there pain in the world? Actually pain is a good thing. A certain
amount of pain keeps us from doing stupid things. How often does feeling pain
make you stop doing something? There are people who don't feel pain and they
often do irrepairable damage to their bodies.

And we must remember above all that God is a loving God who always wants what
is best for all of us, all of his creation, people and animals alike. And He
said through the apostle Paul in Romans 8:22-23, "For we know that the whole
creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they
but ourselves also which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves
groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of
our body."

The phrase "the whole creation groaneth and travaileth" for redemption can only
mean just that -THE WHOLE CREATION. And remember that God's Son Jesus, who was
the most innocent of all, suffered and died on the cross of Calvary to redeem
us and is now preparing a place for us where there will not be any more pain or
death. There is every reason to believe that such a wonderful place is being
prepared by our Savior for all of His creation.
