MY NAME IS CLEOPAS |
|~~~~~._O_.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~._O_.~~~~~| | [_____]_______________________________________________[_____] | | | | | | | | | | MY NAME IS CLEOPAS | | | | !___!_________________________________________________!___! | | [_____] [_____] | |______'O'___________________________________________________'O'______| I finally had the opportunity to go to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. What a meaningful feast this is to me. It reminds me as it should remind all of us that our forefathers were slaves in Egypt and God sent the prophet Moses to deliver them from bondage and lead them to the promised land. The strangest thing happened when I arrived. A man came riding through the city gates on a donkey and a crowd of people were waving palm branches and crying, 'Hosannah' and calling him the King of the Jews. The people I talked to said that the man's name was Jesus and he had done many miracles that only a prophet could have done. He had healed the blind and the lame. He had cast out demons. He even raised a little girl from the dead. After I personally listened to him and saw him perform miracles, I also came to believe that not only was he truly a prophet, he may even be the promised Messiah. But then a few days later I saw another crowd yelling for him to be crucified. Because he claimed to be the Son of God some said he was speaking blasphemy and therefore he wasn't the Messiah. Some yelled while he was dying on the cross that he was able to save others but couldn't save himself. That seemed logical enough since even the dead bones of Elisha who was a prophet still remained dead. Like Elisha he could have done miracles and still could die. But if he was a true prophet than he wouldn't claim to be the Messiah, would he? But if he was the messiah why was he dying on that cross? Just as Moses delivered us from Egypt, wouldn't the messiah also deliver us from Roman bondage? He died right there in front of our eyes- he didn't save himself and he didn't save us from Rome. But then I heard from some of his followers that just maybe this was the way it was suppose to be. They said he told them he was going to die but after three days he would return from the dead. I wish I could stay around and find out if it is true, but two of us have to be in Emmaus the first of next week. I do have a wish. I wish that if this is true and he is the Son of God, that he will reveal it to me personally. Maybe even as I head down the road to Emmaus. But maybe that's too much to hope for. (4 days later) I am so thrilled. I had to come straight back to Jerusalem to tell you. It happened just as I had hoped. Jesus appeared to us on the road to Emmaus and he explained everything. Our hearts just burned with excitement and joy as he quoted so many passages of scripture to us and showed us how they applied to him. I wish I had the time to tell you all of these things today but I still have to get back to Emmaus. I promise you that I will write these things in future letters to you as soon as I get a chance. Let me just say this- HOSANNAH! He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! HALLELUIAH! He was suppose to die on the cross for the forgiveness of sins! MARANATHA! He is coming back in power and glory to estabish his kingdom! IX0OS! agape, Cleopas >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> >=> |
