He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and
the world knew him not.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to
become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his
name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the
flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and
we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of
the Father,) full of grace and truth. -John 1:1-14
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for
you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you,
and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of
myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in
me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let
it be afraid. Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I
go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye
might believe. Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. But that the world
may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence. -John 14:1-31
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of
the LORD revealed?
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and
as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor
comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty
that we should desire him.
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows,
and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces
from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our
sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and
afflicted.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was
bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace
was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every
one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the
iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened
not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and
as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not
his mouth.
He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who
shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the
land of the living: for the transgression of my people was
he stricken.
And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich
in his death; because he had done no violence, neither [was
any] deceit in his mouth.
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put
him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering
for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his
days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his
hand.
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be
satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant
justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he
hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered
with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and
made intercession for the transgressors. -Isaiah 53:1-12
The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early,
when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the
stone taken away from the sepulchre.
Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the
other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They
have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know
not where they have laid him.
Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and
came to the sepulchre.
So they ran both together: and the other disciple did
outrun Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.
And he stooping down, and looking in, saw the linen
clothes lying; yet went he not in.
Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the
sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie,
And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with
the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by
itself.
Then went in also that other disciple, which came first
to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed.
For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must
rise again from the dead.
Then the disciples went away again unto their own home.
But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as
she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,
And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the
head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had
lain.
And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She
saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I
know not where they have laid him.
And when she had thus said, she turned herself back,
and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom
seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith
unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where
thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and
saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet
ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto
them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my
God, and your God.
Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had
seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things unto
her.
Then the same day at evening, being the first day of
the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were
assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the
midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his
hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they
saw the Lord.
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as
my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and
saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto
them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are
retained.
But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not
with them when Jesus came.
The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have
seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in
his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the
print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will
not believe.
And after eight days again his disciples were within,
and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being
shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and
behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust [it]
into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my
God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen
me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not
seen, and yet have believed.
And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of
his disciples, which are not written in this book:
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus
is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might
have life through his name. -John 20:1-31
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to
be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the
form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself,
and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given
him a name which is above every name:
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of
things in heaven, and things in earth, and things
under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus
Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. -Philipppians 2:5-11
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with
God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any
thing made that was made.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness
comprehended it not.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the
Light, that all through him might believe.
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of
that Light.
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that
cometh into the world.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do
also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that
the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments.
...If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and
make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which
sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father
will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
