This drawing shows an odd-eyed Mi-Ke Van
Japanese Bobtail. It demonstrates the tall, upright ear set, the
sculpted cheekbones, and the oval, slanted eyes. |
This photo shows the slender body of the
Japanese Bobtail, as well as the Harlequin markings. This cat
appears to be a Red Spotted Tabby and white Harlequin. Note the long
slender legs and level back. |
This cat is Shamba Letu Meiko of
Grenouille, a Mi-Ke Calico female (her tail is too long for
show). Her parents were Elizabeth Freret's Amulet B.W. and
Amulet's Bikki. Meiko was my very first JBT. |
This is Gr.C. Grenouille Kakkui, a
Red Mackerel Tabby and White Particolor male JBT. He flared his ears
when this picture was taken, but you will note that he has a wonderful
round muzzle and deep copper eyes. |
Quadruple Grand Champion,
Grenouille Pitti Sing. Tortoiseshell and White Mi-Ke female.
Sire and Dam were Meiko and Manawyddan Kyoi of Grenouille, a Red Mackerel
Tabby. She did so well when she was shown - lovely ear set,
triangular head shape with nice defined cheekbones, eyes a tad round, but
wonderful gold colour. |
This picture, and the one below, is of
Grand Ch. Rockinashi KissuKuchi of Grenouille. "Buddy" is a Red and White Harlequin,
and has super ears, eye shape, excellent head, a long, long
body, and wonderful personality! |
This is "Sparkey" - Buddy's first
kitten. She's another Tortie and White Mi-Ke, and has good color
(the Tabby barring in the red is OK), nice ear set, and a good
muzzle. Her eyes are, (IMHO) also a tad too round. |
He runs free in the house, and hasn't ever
sprayed. He's kind and tolerant with the kittens, and visits and
croons to his ladies on a regular basis. This is probably more good
luck than anything, but it is delightful to have him as a companion and
"bed-cat". |
This is Db. Ch. Aikoneko Kiku Hana of
Grenouille with her and Buddy's kittens, born August of 1998.
Katey is soft and rather round, and her kittens varied in type from one
round like her, one in the middle, and one long and lean like her
dad. |
Short Genetics Lesson:
Cats carry the gene for red or black on
their "X "Chromosome. A black and white female bred to a red and
white male will give tri-colored females and black and white males.
Since all Katey's kittens were female, all are also Mi-Ke
tri-Colors. This is very
delightful, since the JBT comes in many colors, but the Mi-Ke is highly
prized.
