For this tutorial, you will need Jasc Paint Shop Pro. You can download a trial version here.

This tutorial assumes that you are familiar with pixel painting. If it is new to you, you might want to try one of my other pixel tutorials first.

If you aren't familiar with bluebonnets, here is a photo I took the other day. They are the state flower of Texas and I enjoy their beauty every Spring. I love bluebonnets so of course I had to pixel paint them :-)

Bluebonnets

Step 1 Open a new image, 100 x 100 pixels, transparent, 16 million colors.

Step 2 Here are the colors I've used. You may save this color chart and open it up in PSP to use as your guide:

Step 3 Bluebonnets are all unique, so I'm offering patterns for different pieces. Use the patten below and create the pieces on separate layers.

Step 4 Duplicate the palest petal so that you have a 2-4 of them. Mirror one or two of them. These should primarily be at the top of the flower. Then duplicate the darker two petals, and mirror some so you have them for both sides of the stem. You only need the stem to show at the bottom. Duplicate and move the petals until you are pleased with the results. Here is how I arranged them:

Step 5 Merge layers and create a tube if desired.
