Basic
Tips on Alcohol Mixing and drinking (Do's and Dont's)
These Basic Tips are some important things
that you must keep in mind, and some are so obvious that you may sometimes
forget them. They are not in any specific order:
- If your body asks for Booze give it booze, If
it doesn't then force it to drink some.
- Use your pinky finger correctly. Your hand was
designed with 5 fingers for a reason. The
thumb
and the 3 first fingers help keep your glass balanced, but the support
against gravity for the glass must be given by the pinky. This is especially
true for long runs of drinking in places where you don't have tables
(standing up, driving, etc). If you keep this in mind you won't get tired
and can enjoy drinking for a longer period of time.
- A recent study shows that 96.5% of all people
who died last year had drank water at least once in their lives, as compared
to only 64.2% that had consumed alcohol. Draw your own conclusions.
Also, it is well known that water : can cause excessive sweating and
vomiting, is a major component in acid rain, can cause severe burns in its
gaseous state, accidental inhalation can kill you , contributes to erosion,
decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes ,has been found in tumors of
terminal cancer patients
- When you mix a drink do it in the proper order,
which is usually :1st Ice. 2nd Alcohol, 3rd Filler
(e.g. juice or soda), and then any secondary ingredient.
- Always use very
cold ice. Not all ice has the same temperature.
Usually good ice looks dry outside, and if you touch it, it will stick
to your finger. Bad ice is one that looks wet outside and is dripping from
all sides. If you use ice that isn't very cold your drink will be watery and
hot. Don't be cheap.Aafter you finish your drink throw away all left-over
ice (it'll already have lost all its cooling potential) and start the new
drink with fresh cold ice.
- Dry Ice (I mean frozen CO2
not very cold water ice) is fun to use sometimes, but don't use it with
carbonated beverages.
- If you are preparing large quantities of
drinks, a pitcher-full or a bathtub-full, for example, put all the
ingredients except for the ice and put the ice in the glasses upon serving
(unless you are drinking directly from the bathtub).
- Never leave a glass full, never leave a glass
empty. If its full empty it; if its empty fill it.
- Don't "drink" alcohol intravenously.
Although it may be fun, it's very dangerous. If you MUST do it, then be sure
to use a new disposable needle for each person (or use a condom) and have a
designated "doctor" who can be anyone of your friends, who should
only be drinking the traditional way (orally), and must be nearby to take
the needle out once you pass out or take you to the hospital for revival.
- Always use natural fruit juices. Canned or
artificial juices suck.
- Don't drink and drive. You may hit a bump and
spill your drink. If you MUST drink and drive, then please be very careful
and hold your glass with both hands.
- Don't mix your drink with garbage. It's of very
bad taste to do those frat initiations that give you beer with coffee, salt,
Tabasco sauce and urine. If you must do a frat initiation, then skip the
beer.
- If you smoke and drink you'll get drunk faster
and the hangover will be worse. Don't drink and smoke at the same time or
you won't be able to drink as much as if you where not smoking.
- If you can't decide between drinking beer or
hard licquer, follow this simple rule: first drink beer until you can't
drink more of it. Then drink hard licquer (Marenzi
A., Barcillo, 1995)
