Caer Yslen ~ Dunes ~ Records ~ Residents ~ Isle

The sands were brightly lit, and Jeth paced impatiently. Not having a rider at this stressful point in her young life was driving her crazy. She couldn't send them to get the candidates, and she didn't want to start yelling...

Melth? she reached tentatively with her mind to the snappish green. Generally the dragons didn't speak mind-to-mind with each other. Invasion of privacy.

What? the green returned. Her mental voice was a bit distracted; she must be flying.

Would you mind rounding up those bonders? It's time.

If you insist. Melth returned, but Jeth could tell the green was happy...

After a few minutes, the feisty green herded the four bonders onto the sands. They all looked a bit perturbed that the green had gathered them, but, the eggs were rocking, and now was no time to argue.

The first egg's inhabitant pushed against the fragile wall, and split his egg into pieces. He was deep brown, and looked rather feisty. He marched right up to the bonders. "Corlon; I am Fakaith."

Two more eggs hatched, a cream and a blue making their appearance into the world. The blue lay on the sands, exhausted, but the cream moved towards the bonders; towards the strange girl called Naakrala. "No matter where you go, or what you look like, Naakrala..." the cream said, her meaning unclear to all but Naakrala herself. "Arharrath; welcome."

Three of the remaining eggs hatched somewhat together. A green, a brown, and a striking purple pushed out of the eggshells, and lay on the sand for a moment to get their bearings. The green closed her eyes and slept; the brown began to walk away, but the purple moved towards the bonders. "Brenlyn... I'm Navuith!"

The last egg hatched slowly, calmly, compared to the rest, and a vibrant red hatchling made his way out. He stretched his wings and walked right up to Daniel, not afraid in the least. "Daniel..." the red began. "Yes Iyihenth?" "What's that on your face?" Daniel pushed his glasses up. "I'll tell you all about it over breakfast..."

Jeth smiled happily. All of her eggs hatched, even if three hadn't chosen bonds. She moved across the sands to welcome the blue, green, and brown, but then stopped and looked at Melth. "What's his name, Melth?"

The green looked up from the brown hatchling curled in her arms. "His name is Kenneith." she said contentedly.

Jeth smiled. The brown had chosen Melth's old rider's name... how sweet.
