On Bonding to Adults
On Belrin Isle, adult dragons, seadragons, and gryphons, who have (for whatever reason) lost their bond may re-bond at a hatching. This only happens within a species. No gryph will attempt to bond a dragon, etc. Though the adult is present at the hatching, there is no guarantee that a hatchling will be drawn to them.
The hatchling and the adult will have a much closer bond than a human and a hatchling could hope for, as they can do absolutely everything together. A same-gender bondpair will become inseparable friends, and an opposite-gender pair will likely become mates.
Because the bond is so strong, when one of the pair dies, there is nothing that will stop the other from suiciding.
Use: Adopting abandoned adults.
On Hatchling-hatchling Bonding
As was common times ago, hatchlings bonded to each other - male to female, and same-to-same. These bonds are lifelong friendships. Being that male-female bondmates are aware that they are siblings, they will not become mates. They will seek out a female-male pair from another clutch to mate with.
Same-gender pairs will seek out an opposite gender duo for mates. These quads often become close knit, and are highly likely to remain so until they're split up. They will stick together as long as there is one mated pair remaining. If there are no pairs, they will break up. They are most likely to rebond if they are not too old.
Use: Technically, none. But hatchlings bonded hatchlings before, and will continue to do so on Belrin Isle.
On Hosting a BondPair
Hosting? Like... getting to have both of them? And writing for them?
Exactly.
Hatchling-Hatchling and Hatchling-Adult bonds are going to happen. The Adults in those pairs may have been abandoned, and since they yet live, need somewhere to go. With a hatchling bond, they'll be happy. A new pair also needs a home.
Because this is a two-creature deal, if you abandon them, you won't be allowed to Adopt from any agency on Belrin Isle. This is harsh, but if the Adult was abandoned to begin with, why should I sit by and watch him or her be abandoned again?
To host a pair, you'll need to contact Gryph and indicate that you're willing to host a new pair, or an Adult-hatchling pair. If there is an abandoned adult that you'd be interested in adopting, please indicate this.
To show that you're truly interested in hosting a pair, you'll need to construct a page for them to stay on before the hatching. Mainly this is so I know where to check up on them. If you're interested in adopting an abandoned, you may use him or her to write a story for that page, but you may not have their image unless approved.
To host an adult-new pair, you cannot be the original adopter of the adult. Since you abandoned the creature, you are ineligible to adopt at his/her birthplace, per the rules. For new-new pairs, the sponsor cannot have abandoned any creature from Belrin Isle. Hosting a pair is a big responsiblity.
