Nosey and I met at the Upland California Animal shelter February 27th 1987, where she was born to a pepper and salt colored Australian Shepherd/Setter. Her wandering daddy was a Doberman. I adopted them all (not dad) and re-adopted out the Mother & the other puppy and kept Nosey who, until her death on November 8th 2001, was the delight of my life.
How does one remember a pet? Was it because she was beautiful? No, I don't
think that was the reason as Nosey wasn't what most would call
beautiful. She had always been an allergic dog, which caused her coat never
to be as shiny as with some dogs. What Nosey had, was that she was kind, loving,
tender, caring and very protective of me, that only a very few dogs ever
have been. She was always at my side whether outside or if I was opening a door.
From the day after she was born to the
day I lost her, she took care of me more than I took care of her. Oh yes, I
fed and combed her, even hugged her at times, but sometimes I just pushed
her away as I was too busy or doing something else which I thought at that
time more important. ( To have those days back) When she had the convulsion,
on Wednesday 11/7 and I knew that her time was near, we did connect, she
knew I cared and loved her. I know there will be a special place for her
soul, as she really was a good dog and my best friend. |
