This is what they are.

This poem is dedicated to that (my) community known as the "Gorkhas". They are well known for their bravery and sincerity. Being a Gorkha myself I have been trying to know my own community for years and have come to some conclusions. I maybe wrong in describing a Gorkha, but this is what I saw since my childhood. I have tried my best to describe a Gorkha in the most sincere way. Hope you will try to understand the community better.

The first stanza tells you about their bravery.

The second stanza tells you about their famous weapon known as the "Khukuri". It is said that even guns shiver at the site of it.

The third stanza tells about how they live a simple life and are happy about what they have with them. They trust anyone like an infant thinking the world as a sincere place to live in. I wish it was that way.

The fourth stanza tells about their sacrifice for the country and thats not all, they can even die for the sake of a friend which they treasure so much.

Bravest among the bravest
No storm can stop them
Might is like the force of nature
Like the wind blowing forever
This is what they are.

With tiny weapons on their hands
Looks so fragile, but deadly in use
Shines like the Demon's eye
Sweeps like a wild fire
This is what they are

Simplest of the simplest
Believes like an infant
Sincere thoughts with temples bound
Are they to be blamed?
This is what they are

So much so for the country
Can even lay for the sake of friend
Heart is not of gold
It is like the snow which melts and glows
This is what they are.
