Stearns History

Information gathered from the STEARNS Genealogy and Memoirs Volumes I and II c. 1901.

"There is a tradition prevalent in Lynn, Mass., that three brothers, names Daniel, Isaac, and Shubael Stearns, came from England to America in 1630, and settled near Watertown, Mass.; that Daniel died, unmarried; that Shubael and Isaac each brought their families with them; that, soon after landing, Shubael and wife both died, leaving two sons, named Charles and Nathaniel, 8 or 10 years of age, who were reared and cared for by their Uncle Isaac;"

CAREY FAMILY HISTORY

Information from ZIBA CAREY FAMILY ancestors-descendants 1066-1986 by Ruth Carey

MARY BOLEYN, wife of SIR WILLIAM CARY, and sister ANNE, wife of KING HENRY VIII, is the skeleton on our family tree - thanks to her father, Thomas Boleyn, and his greed. Her father wanting to gain titles for himself, sent Anne and Mary with MARY TUTOR to the Royal family of France. She received her education on the continent, and a bad reputation. She was mistress to King Francis 1 and later for a short tome with Henry VIII, before he married Anne. She asked nothing for herself, but was unable to persuade her lover to grant Thomas the title he craved. Anne Boleyn was born with an extra digital finger. That extra finger has appeared on three cousins of ours in three generations. We wonder how many have acquired these extra fingers these past 400 years resulting from the Boleyn-Cary marriage. Any Cary/Carey relatives with this trait in their families please e-mail us.
