An International
Perspective on the Death Penalty
A project by Broughton High
School students
The death penalty is a hotly debated topic among many
people and also among nations. Different nations believe that criminals
should be punished differently for different crimes. Some of these
punishments may seem rather forgiving by our standards, but also some may
seem very harsh. This project will try to address the following topics:
-
How many countries
use the death penalty?
-
Where does the
U.S. rank in terms of its use of the death penalty?
-
What has the rest
of the world said about our [the U.S.] use of the death penalty?
-
What conflicts
has the U.S. had with other countries over our use of the death penalty?
-
Explain the methods
used by other countries over our use of the death penalty.
-
Compare homicide
rates between death penalty countries and those that do not use it.
