There are eight legends about Shiv Jee in which Shiv Jee has destroyed evil - Andhakaasur, Daksh's Yagya, Gajaasur, Jalandhar, Kiraat-Arjun, Kaam Dev, Maarkandeya Muni, Tripur.

One day it so happened that Paarvatee Jee covered Shiv Jee's three eyes with Her hands from behind in a playful mood.

The entire universe plunged into total darkness. Shiv Jee started sweating. As the sweat drops fell from His forehead, they turned in to a frightful demon. This demon was known as Andhakaasur. Since Shiv Jee's eyes were covered that the demon who was born from the sweat, was also blind.

Now Andhakaasur did a severe Tap for Brahmaa Jee. As Brahmaa Jee got pleased with him, he asked the Var of being immortal. He was granted his wish on the condition that he will lose his life if he would lust after his own mother. Blinded by his power, he started troubling the whole world.

One day he came to Paarvatee Jee (consort of Shiv Jee). He did not know that Paarvatee's playful mood was the cause of his birth. He desired for Her. This resulted in a battle between Shiv Jee and him. At one point Shiv Jee hit him with His Trishool (trident). At the time of his death Andhak prayed Him to be born as His Bhakt. He became one of Shiv's Gan - Bhringee.
