| When we weren't tubin, we were making out way through the locks that link hundreds of miles of waterway. One of the most impressive is the Kirkfield Locks seen above. Where most locks change your elevation by flooding or draining the water beneath your boat, this one just take the water with it. I wish I could remember how many tons it holds, but it is amazing. It works like a balancing scale, letting gravity work its magic. But nothing beats a sunset on the lake (below). |
