BLACE, Macedonia, April 6, '99 -- A Kosovar refugee woman tries to walk out from the Macedonian police block, while barely able to stand up, as her relatives manage to get her out of the field. At the time in Blace several thousand Kosovar refugees were trapped and not allowed to leave before they register. Since most had their papers destroyed by the Serb police, registration was painstakingly slow. Meanwhile, health situation of the refugees at border crossings in Macedonia, at places such as Blace and Jasince were rapidly deteriorating. |
