Life on the tracks -- IDPs in Saatli, Azerbaijan.
There are thirty, may be forty discarded carriages lined up along the unused tracks in Saatli. These carriages house some hundreds of IDPs from Azeri villages now invaded by the Armenian army.

Nubar Aliyev lives in one of them. She is ninety years old. Ninety years wise and that much full of lust for life. "Hope" she says "hope that we will eventually see our land again is what keeps us alive here."

Each discarded carriage has a function. Some are built into living compartments housing three or more families, some have been converted to classrooms. These antique pieces cargo trains are now alive with children's voices, they are polished to a shine by housewives. 8 years afterall is quiet the length of time to settle into one place. Settle yes, but not necessarily get used to. As memories of their homes, herds and fields in Karabakh sadly prevail.
