Press
Conference
13th October
2000, "AKS is all about
happiness", beamed
India's most loved contemporary musician Lucky Ali speaking at a
preconcert press conference on Wednesday at Crossroads shopping mall
in Mumbai. Lucky announced that his third album titled AKS would be
released on 15th October
through Sony Music. In a
pre-concert chat with the media, Lucky explained that this album has
a more upbeat mood than his earlier albums and is about the joy of
living. Elaborating on the album title AKS Lucky informed, "Aks means
reflection and the album's composition are truly in the spirit of
reflection on the past and the hopes about future. It is an honest
reflection of my being at this stage in life."
Lucky also said
that plans for an on-stage (live) album were being finalized. He
attributed the success of his music to his team stressing that every
member of the band and the production team play an important role in
the album's making. "Every album is a 'we' success and not an 'I'
success", he emphasized. At present Lucky
is in an upbeat mood hence the effervescent Tere Mere Saath Jo Hota
Hai. Though Lucky Ali is an icon of sorts, "I do not like being
in a particular slot, POP or anything else! I don't know what it is.
I just produce music." Slot or no slot Lucky definitely has
reached out to the masses with the titanic success of Kaho Na Pyar
Hai, "I did the film more out of family connections (Lucky's father Mehmood had given Rajesh Roshan a big break in
music) than anything else. The out come was overwhelming." He
says that he is not into full-fledged film music and he has not
closed the door on film music either, "If something interesting comes up I will do it." Lucky Ali cannot
deny the reach of a Bollywood music score, "It helped my previous
album Sifar a lot. In the long run the album turned out to be quite
successful." Talking about his previous album, he clarified us
about his association with BMG Crescendo, " We just had made the
music album (Sunoh) and shot the video on our own. It was a
readymade package that we sold to Suresh and that's all. My
association with Sony Music was a blessing. They gave the freedom
that I craved
for."
