Lucky Ali's new Album

24th September 2000, Lucky Ali prepares to hit the musical road after two years with his new album, Aks. The wanderer is telling another of his favourite stories. This time he's travelled to the carnival streets of Havana in Cuba. There's celebration on the streets and the traveller is engrossed in his search. Will it end? He's singing Tera mera saath but the saathi is missing. And do we see our wanderer dancing in the video? "No," laughs Lucky Ali, on the phone from New Zealand. "Well yeah, I mean I am swaying to the rhythm of my music and songs which are groovy and upbeat in this album. I'm basically a shy person, can't really dance around. I'm not doing any steps, just humming and swaying. I'm in a happy mood, afterall, it's carnival time. The video is colourful, unlike my other videos. Mahesh (Mathai, the director of Oh, Sanam and Bhopal Express), the story teller is on the lookout for someone," says the nomadic singer. Lucky has just completed the recording of his forthcoming Sony Music album Aks, which means reflection of thoughts. He now feels his musical journey has finally taken the direction he wanted for a long time. He's releasing his album after a break oftwo years: "I sang Ek pal ka jeena for Kaho Na Pyaar Hai which was a success." Has he evolved since his last album? "You either evolve or you 'de-volve', I've developed a particular style, the album is very 'me'. It took me eight months to make it. The instrumentation, the lyrics they're an extension of my personality. Aks was an idea I had in my mind for months. The song Tera mera saath has been written by seven writers. " But what was the inspiration behind Aks? "This album is more personal I talk about relationships and people."
