Arriving along the River Seine, walking along the Avenue des Champs-Elysees, and at the Arc de Triomphe.

I arrived by bus, from the airport, on the far side of the Avenue des Champs-Elysees about three blocks, as seen in the picture below. The bus station was on the south side (left bank) of the River Seine. I walked across the bridge and two or three blocks, crossed the Avenue des Champs-Elysees, turned and took this picture looking back across the Avenue from whence I came.

I believe the pictures we see on tv of the Tour de France bicycles show them coming down this street in front of me here, from the left, to the right, where they reach the Arc de Triomphe in about five or six blocks. It is an imposing sight, a few blocks down the avenue. Later, I snapped the shot below from our tour bus. Not the greatest shot, but, I was there...

Back to my arrival, from the spot I took the first picture on this page, I took a left down the Avenue. The happened to be having a big airplane show at the time, and, the little park space along both sides of the Avenue was filled with exhibits, either actual planes or booths about airplanes. Very interesting. Wish I could have taken more time to really look at them. Did take one picture:

This picture brings one further comment, seeing the little car. All the cars are very small. That is very good because the street, except for this one, of course, are very, very narrow. The cars are just like water-beetles - going very fast, stopping at red lights, then going away very fast, again, over and over and over...... Very interesting place, this Paris, France!
