The transition
from all sorts of wired-technology to wireless technology
has dawned upon us and we are all faced with the following
question. Do we make the move to wireless technology or stay
unchanged? Do we keep the standard, wired technology?
By reading this
information you are assumed to have interacted with or used
a computer network. If you already have a wireless network
implemented in your home or office this information will
still be of use to you as it covers very relevant issues
within wireless networking.
Each type of
communication, between computers, has its advantages and
disadvantages. Wired networks are less mobile and generally
harder to set up, whereas wireless networks are more mobile
and easier to set up. Because of the lack of wires in a WAN
the wireless systems tend to be more reliable, and users who
are accessing the network or setting one up, can initiate
service much faster. Wireless certainly seems to be the most
popular option for networks at the moment.
The security and
speed of the Wireless network being used depends on the type
of specification. The most popular specification for a WAN
is 802.11g, however, just like wired networks, each
specification has its advantages.
