It
is difficult to know where to start with this amazing Irish actor. Although
this column is primarily devoted to the character of 007, most people find
Pierce Brosnan just as interesting. He alone revitalized the Bond franchise,
which had lain dormant since 1989 with his astounding turn as 007 in GoldenEye.
He
is wildly popular in the public eye and any film with Brosnan
in the credits can be assured of a good box office return. In 1997 he formed
his own production company, Irish DreamTime, which to date has produced
2 films including 1998's The Nephew. Although
The World Is Not
Enough is the last film to which Brosnan is officially signed on for,
he has an option for a fourth, which I expect he will take.
. James Bond is the world's most famous secret agent. Highly trained, suave and sophisticated, James Bond has a licence to kill, as indicated by the "00" before the "7". In past missions, Bond has been into space, under the oceans and even driven around the streets of St. Petersburg in a tank. Tomorrow Never Dies revealed a Bond that was happiest blazing machine guns, and grinning at his gadgets which, as many fans have pointed out, is in complete contrast to the man Fleming originally envisaged. However, The World Is Not Enough has a surprise in store for us. The scriptwriters have decided to delve deeper into Bond's character, making him more vulnerable than before, and have decided to make a more realistic, gritty film. To see the whole explanation, click here. Bond's assignment for TWINE is to protect Elektra King from Renard whilst she oversees the construction of the oil pipeline. He gets to go skiing (how he gets to the mountains in the first place remains to be seen), spends a greater amount of screen time with M than usual and above all, utters the immortal "Bond....James Bond" while a huge explosion rips through a building behind him. Brosnan, 46, is quoted as not enjoying working on the previous Bond film, Tomorrow Never Dies, saying, "The last one was a bit like pulling teeth. This one's been like an old pair of shoes. Robert Carlyle is an excellent villain and the Bond girls are very sexy". |

| It has been confirmed that James Bond will be using a Walther P99 throughout The World Is Not Enough, instead of the Walther PPK he used previously. This P99 was last used in Tomorrow Never Dies, and can fire 16 shots as opposed to the PPK's 7. |
