Over Land And Seas.
efore to leave home take great care of the tidal prediction, whether you buy an indicator you'd find locally by the coast shops, or you check the hours on the SHOM website or using different softwares you can download from here , from there, from this site or from this one.
A simple rule to remember and have a good idea of the progression speed of the flow is the rule of the 1/12ves.
You should determine the foreseeable duration of your fishing action. We can see on the table above that the major currents are generated by the 3rd and 4th hours.Usually these strong currents are less fruitful than the 2 hours before and the 2 hours after the slack water. However we remark the 3rd and 4th hours are sometimes interesting at neap tides : the low stream encourage the move of the fishes.*

bviously, by night all knots are grey, specially with only one light source. It is difficult to judge of the line on the top from the one which is passing below (or slips away !).
To avoid making knots and remake them in the dark, check your lines before living the house (specially the shock leader knot shall be controlled). However, if I can risk an advice to those who have time to : close their eyes and practice the -say...4 main knots as listed below :
The « uni knot« .
The double knot (The «perfection loop» is ot easy to realize in the dark).
A shock leader knot, (The leader's the red one).
The Palomar knot on a hook eye.
Normally, if you know these ones : you are ready !
For the pleasure, I would add one more strong one, on a swivel (it is doubled and very strong).
Last one : here is the real strong hook knot.
A little tip : before to tie a knot (softly but firmly), wet the lines with a little bit of saliva : this will ease the thightening and will avoid to heat the nylon that would consequently risk to weaken the line that break immediately or later on.
