A 2 section rod with a multiplier can be considered as a good start for a new passion. However, please note that you'll have to train casting during the day because it's safer than in the pale light of your head lamp.
If fishing at night, first of all, Be Safe : take a good friend with you. Putting aside the baits and the usual pieces of equipment, foresee a stable light to set on the sand or in shingles as a general source, and one head lamp per fisherman.
