y preferred hooks are limited to the 3 types presented here after. I didn't find any good reason to use other types (not yet).

Still following the queue of advises that pay on the long term, here is how I "use" these hooks.Buy a small smooth file to sharpen the hooks before leaving home.

LS-5013F N° 1/0

This file sharpening is specially valid for this carbon steel hook which rusts very very quickly. But what a needle !
To avoid throwing them away after 1 night, don't put them back in their plastic folder : put them in you warm, dry shirt pocket = guaranteed effectiveness.
Please note I got this hook broken twice by seabreams; so I don't use it any more if sea breams are present on the spot.
With lug worms or small mya arenaria.

VMC 9291-PS N° 1 with 2 barbs

I use it for the sea bream, the previous one had failed twice ! If it is heavier and less cautious, but it is also cheaper, which is not without any importance when you know the losses provoked by the cuttlefishes when the flow is low (they cut the rigs without any permission !).
With lug worms, razorfish or  half-cooked cockle on a 1m/1,50m rig it's perfect. Hot dip galvanized, you can save money with this one.

OCTOPUS N° 4/0

This one I use for bass, with baits like cuttlefish, sardine or other squids. Mounted simple or steward for big baits.
In principle, this hook was used for cods originally. And it "works" perfectly for cods too.
But you will never avoid the cleaners as the pouts to be hooked up whatever the size !
