"Concerts are the most happy and intense moments of my life," says Dulce
Pontes. First heard by the world in 1991 when she represented her homeland at
the Eurovision Song Contest, Pontes immersed herself in the sources of
Portuguese popular music to create a sound unmistakably her own. Perhaps best
known for resurrecting and reinventing the traditional fado Ð the melancholy,
romantic song of the Portuguese people Ð she has achieved international acclaim
for her solo albums (including the platinum CD O Primeiro Canto, recently
released in the United States), as well as a series of duets with such prominent
artists as Italy's Andrea Bocelli and Brazil's Caetano Veloso.
