Lance W. Billingsley, chairman of the University of Maryland's Board of Regents and one of MD. Governor Glendening's closest political friends has begun offering his services as a lobbyist on behalf of clients with business before the General Assembly. Billingsley who directs policy for 11 universities with a budget of $2.2 billion was quoted as saying "There's nothing that says I can't lobby. I don't think the Chairman of the Regents means I would have more influence than anyone else."

Allen Iverson signed a $70.9 million deal with the Philadelphia 76'ers NBA basketball team. He said, "It's not all about money all the time. I just want to make enough money to take care of my family."
