Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of my page. Okay, so some of these questions haven't really been asked, but I'm answering them anyway. If you have a question concerning me, my page, or FF3, simply tell me.
1. Where do I get the characters in the second half of the game?
Here is a list for you:
Sabin- Found in the north part of Tzen. You need to go through the house after the Light of Judgment strikes before you can get him.
Locke- Found in the Phoenix Cave. (land the airship in the middle of the star-shped mountain group)
Shadow- You can only get him if you waited in the first half of the game at the Floating Continent. First find him in the Cave on the Veldt, then bet the Striker in the Colosseum.
Relm- If you didn't wait for Shadow, she'll be in the Cave on the Veldt. Then she's found in Owzer's house in Jidoor. If you did wait for Shadow, she'll go directly to Owzer's house.
Strago- He's marching around in front of the Cult of Kefka's Tower. You need Relm in your party to get him.
Terra- First go to Mobliz and beat Phunbaba. Then, after you get the airship, go back. She's in a hidden basement in one of the houses (a dog will show it to you). Then beat Phunbaba again and she joins you.
Mog- Found in the Narshe mines.
Umaro- Found in the Narshe caves behind where you defeat Tritoch. You need Mog in your party to get him.
Gogo- Found inside the ZoneEater, after you allow your party to be eaten by him on Triangle Island.
Gau- Fight a few battles on the Veldt with a party of 3 or less and he'll eventually join you.
Cyan- Found in Mt. Zozo. To get there, buy the Rust Rid from the man in Zozo who tells the truth. Then open the door that was formerly rusted shut.
Celes, Edgar, and Setzer are all found along the path of the game; you can't finish it without them.
2. Where are the eight dragons, and what are their names?
Remember, after beating all eight dragons you get the Crusader magicite.
Dirt Dragon- Found inside the Opera House in the WoR. You need to flick a switch in the right-side room that will open a hole beneath you to get on stage.
Skull Dragon- Inside Kefka's Tower.
Gold Dragon- Inside Kefka's Tower.
White Dragon- Inside the Cult of Kefka's Tower.
Red Dragon- Inside the Phoenix Cave.
Storm Dragon- In Mt. Zozo.
Ice Dragon- In the snowy area above Narshe.
Blue Dragon- Inside the queen's room of the Sunken Castle.
3. Where is the Sunken Castle, and where is the queen's secret room?
The sunken castle can be found by using Figaro castle's submerge mode to travel in the second half of the game, after getting the airship. The castle will stop and the man will tell you that you've bumped into some unusual stratum. Choose 'stop and explore' and go over to the jail cells. There'll be an exit there.
Once inside the castle, walk 5 steps down from the right throne and hit A. There will now be a staircase on the right that wasn't there before.
4. What are the keys for the ZSNES computer version of FF3?
The keys for the game are located directly above the arrow keys on your keyboard. Home is A, End is B, Insert is X, Delete is Y, Page Down is R, and Page Up is L. Enter is Start, I believe Right Shift is Select, and the arrow keys function normally. These keys apply to all emulator ZSNES games.
5. Is it really illegal to hold the emulated game for more than 24 hours?
Well, it might be some obsolete law, but I don't think anyone cares about it anymore. I'll keep my version until they arrest me... hahaha! ... ... what the...? AAAHHHH, it's the cops!!! Save yourself!!!!! (blam blam blam)
6. Why did you make your page?
Well, I want people to know about FF3, and for those who have it to enjoy it more. I don't regret it, either. It was a lot of fun to make.
7. My friend told me there's a knight character, and that I could turn Strago into a Red Mage, and -INSERT ITEM HERE-. Is this true?
Sigh. People need to stop having friends. Don't believe this garbage, they're nothing but lies!
8. How do I get Ultros, Siegfried, Leo, or Kefka?
I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but there is no proven way to get any of these characters (with the exception of Leo, who you get briefly before he dies). If anyone has heard otherwise, I really don't care. It's most likely a lie or a glitch.
9. Who is Afkek?
According to rumors, he is Kefka's twin brother that you can get in your party. Again I emphasize, rumors.
10. What's with Kefka?
Well... he's delightfully evil. He is unique among all video game bad guys in that he is, as the overview puts it, gleefully amoral, like a child frying ants. Oh yeah, he also seems to think makeup is stylish on guys... I guess the clown look is in.
11. Where did you get your pictures/music?
Ah ha, a chance to credit all the other great sites that have helped me... that's right, I borrowed the pics from them... at least, most of them. As for the music, I got it from the Unknown Warrior's page (see FF3 links).
12. Can I have your autograph?
Yes... yes, you can. Just send me a piece of paper and a pen, plus a self-addressed, stamped envelope, and $200.00 shipping and handling (no CODs, please), and I promise I'll get you that autograph within 4-6 weeks.
13. In my PSX Final Fantasy Anthology, I found something weird. On the menu screen, various characters pace back and forth across the bottom of the screen. Once, there was a red knight with a feather on his head! Any idea who this might be?
You betcha. This character is the "Onion Kid" from the Japanase FF3 (not released in the US). Why he's on the FF6 menu screen is a mystery to me, but there's a rumor that you can play as him (see Shadow's Cafe). Courtesy of Gizzy the Great.
14. Isn't there a shorter URL to get here?
Absolutely. This site can now be found at http://www.finalfantasyiii.com/
15. What's up with Siegfried/Ziegfried?
Good question. Siegfried pops up at different times in the game, and it's hard to distinguish whether he's a friend or foe. Then he changes his name and claims that someone's been imitating him. Plus, you fight him for a Tintinabar in the Colosseum if you bet a Megalixir. There have been a lot of rumors flying around, one of which is that Siegfried is actually Baram, Shadow's ex-partner. It does make for an interesting twist...
16. What about Ultros?
You can try to figure out that for yourself. Every game has a recurring bad guy/comic relief character, and this time Ultros is it. You fight him a whopping four times before he finally gets a hint and finds a job. Enjoy his one-liners...
17. Can you give me some advice on getting past the Floating Continent?
About the Floating Continent, there are a lot of things to remember. The biggest one is that many paths do not open until you move right next to them with your character. The ground will magically shift and suddenly there'll be a path to go on. A couple of them can be really hard to find. You have to remember that what looks like a dead end can actually be the way to go, and you'll have to go right up to it to find out. The other big thing to remember is DO NOT JUMP BACK TO THE AIRSHIP unless you absolutely have to! Too many gamers have this problem; they accidentally hit the button and lose up to an hour's worth of progress. You'll be given the option to go back right after you come out of one of the ground-transporters. Another important thing is to make sure you're done with Shadow before you fight the Atma Weapon; once you beat him, Shadow will leave and won't come back, even if it means starting over with a three-member party. The final thing you should know is about rescuing Shadow once you get past Kefka; details about that can be found in Shadow's Cafe on my page.
18. How do I get the Chainsaw?
Gahhh! Okay, okay, I put it on Shadow's Cafe! You're lazy! LAZY!!!
19. How do I get/uncurse the Cursed Shield?
To get the Cursed Shield, bring Locke to Narshe in the WoR and unlock the door to the mayor's house (the one all the way to the left). The man in the bed downstairs gives you the shield.
In order to uncurse it so it turns into the Paladin Shield, the best shield in the game, you'll need to equip it on a character for 255 battles. There's no way to get an accurate count on how far you have to go, so just be very patient. It's recommended that you equip the Ribbon relic; this way, the only status ailment on that character will be Condemned, and you can still use them in battle.
20. How do I get the lore GrandTrain for Strago?
This is obtained only by a boss called Hidon, and to fight him you'll need to activate a sidequest by bringing Relm and Strago to Thamasa in the WoR. You'll fight your way through Ebbott's Rock (just north of Thamasa) and get to Hidon. When he's weakened, he will use GrandTrain, one of the best lores to be had.
"Okay, enough! Take me back now!"
