We are counting down to no cops.
The major public decision will be sudden and take everybody by surprise.
The decision is that we don't want to see uniformed people with guns any more
because they're too disturbing to the public tranquility.
Once this decision is public, the workers will slide quietly out of those jobs
that have become socially unacceptable and unpopular.
Police work is not a normal job, but a political statement.
A cop is saying he will defend the rich against the poor.
A cop is saying he will defend the powerful against the helpless.
