The Glenn Miller Orchestra

Before starting his own band in 1935, Glenn Miller, a trombonist from Iowa, played for the Ben Pollack band. After he left that band he formed the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Their popularity took off in 1939 with the songs below. When World War 2 broke out, Glenn joined the Air Force, he and his band played for troops in the US and overseas. But, tragically, in 1944 while flying over France his plane disappeared. He was a mere 40 years old. Ten years later, Jimmy Stewart starred in a movie about the life of Glenn Miller.
